For more than a decade, ADRA South Africa has built community resilience to the health and psychosocial impacts of HIV and AIDS.
Strong health and wellbeing protect dignity, keep families together and help communities recover from crisis. When stigma falls and care is within reach, people living with HIV — and those around them — can live with hope and purpose.
Our work crosses gender, age, ethnic and faith lines so support reaches people where they already gather: in congregations, support groups, cooperatives and local networks.
Our health portfolio spans prevention, care and community resilience:
Practical approaches strengthen both clinical pathways and the social fabric that keeps people in care.
A training-of-trainers model equips community counsellors to support people living with HIV — reaching more than 60,000 people through trusted local relationships.
We have trained more than 300 pastors and religious leaders in a ministry of inclusive compassion, helping dismantle stigma in faith communities.
More than 120 community and faith-based support groups give people living with HIV a place to belong, share and stay connected to care.
More than 20 cooperatives with income-generating activities linked to markets help households strengthen both health and economic resilience.
